What would prevent it is that ever since Google Voice stopped using XMPP for connections (probably about five years ago or thereabouts), the only way to configure an Obihai device with standard Obihai firmware to work with Google Voice is to use the Obitalk web-based portal, and that is what they say is going to stop working.
